Topic: RustyExotics
Nicholas Rust is the owner and founder of RustyExotics Orchids. Nicholas is an up-and-coming hybridizer in the orchid community. His orchid passion began in 2015 when a mini-Phalaenopsis was gifted to him. Like a flame to gasoline, this gift quickly pulled him into the diverse world of orchids. Shortly after, his interests were formed, he began exploring the culture of several unique genera of terrestrial orchids. He now specializes in Habenaria and other related genera, jewel orchids and Australian terrestrial orchids. Terrestrial orchids aside, they also cultivate many Catasetum, Bulbophyllum, and several other fun genera of orchids.

In Memory
For those long-time members who may have known our TBOS lifetime member, Paul Mitchell: he passed away July 30. Paul became a member in 1981, the founding year of Tampa Bay Orchid Society. He was a wealth of information on the history of our organization.
He was helpful in proofreading the Orchid Press newsletter while I was editor, when it was a printed version. He assisted in compiling the auction list. He held different positions within the society; one was Program Chair. He was active volunteering for TBOS society orchid shows. He was always quick with tips and tricks for helping other orchid growers.
For the last ten years or so his health had declined, and he was no longer able to attend meetings. I kept in touch with him on a monthly basis. We talked about what was trending in the society and what orchids he recently purchased.
In his healthy years he spent several months each year in Costa Rica and attended orchid shows there while practicing his Spanish.
Per our bylaws, a donation was made in Paul's memory to the American Orchid Society.
